SECOND RUNNER-UP : Wilco - Late Greats

More or less the only song I really like on Wilcos 2004 release, A Ghost is Born. Its aptly fantastic!

This isn't a song I listen to very often but when I do I love it to pieces. Its slow and offbeat and wouldn't be out of place on a Bob Dylan release.

I can't really describe what makes this song so good, it just is. Its also the last song on A Ghost is Born so you can go away from the album without a bitter taste if you didn't like the rest of the stuff.

FIRST RUNNER-UP : Jeff van Dyck - Forever (Rome Total War)

I was too lazy to search out a picture of Jeff & his wife (who does the vocals on the track) so instead you get 3 more Rome: Total War pics.

I listen to this song less than a lot of others on my play list that have come out this year but well this song tramps over all of them like my Roman Legions!

This song creates wondrous imageries of warriors marching off to an uncertain fate, of wives left behind and Gods watching malevolently above.

If you have this song playing in any game where battle is fought it cannot help but invigorate and inspire the soul as you cut down the enemy or they cut you. There is no retreat when this song plays, no cowardice, only honour and glory!

GLORY FOR ROME!!!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SONG OF THE YEAR: Bad Religion - God's Love

I could listen to this song every day, actually I probably do already because its that damn good. Process of Belief had Kyoto Now! and Empire Strikes First has Gods Love. Which is better? Can't tell, its secret. Needless to say they're both great.

The song is basically about peoples blind faith in God and the things we pass off as his 'Love'.

The guitars on this song rule as well, RULE. So does the chorus with the backing vocals screaming along in such Bad Religion fashion that you think these guys can do no wrong.

It also plays off the back of Let Them Eat War so if you're not feeling all 'FUCK YOU WORLD' this song leaves you no choice, it'll make you want to wear Doc Martins and to go kick some ass!

Haha. o_O.

I do love this song though, serious like.
